Elliott Fry signs three-year deal with NFL squad
April 12, 2019
kicker Elliott Fry is getting his shot at the NFL — the Chicago Bears announced Friday that they have signed the one-time college walk-on to a three-year deal.
Fry will have to compete for a starting role against the two other kickers the Bears have signed this offseason after rookie Cody Parkey missed a crucial 43-yard field goal in the first round of the playoffs.
Fry left South Carolina as the program’s all-time points leader and recently spent time in the now-defunct Alliance for American Football, reuniting with his former coach Steve Spurrier on the Orlando Apollos. With the Apollos, Fry made all 14 of his field goal attempts, with a long of 44 yards.
At USC, Fry made 66 of his 88 field goal attempts and was nearly across four years of extra points, making 161 of 162 attempts. After his senior season, he stayed another year at Carolina to finish his double major.
