I believe Tom Dempsey also passed away yesterday, from virus complications.  He held the NFL record for longest field goal at 63 yards (he did it born with only half a foot).

^^yep, he held it for many years until several others beat him by a yard.  The club foot is what made that record even more impressive.

Agreed on the foot, although I've seen some arguments made that the wide, flat toe of his shoe gave him some "advantage".  It's like the argument that amputee blade runners get some kind of mechanical advantage in running.
