EPT Showcase roster includes multiple Gamecocks targets

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The roster for the third annual Elite Position Training (EPT) Showcase is out and, as expected, several of the top prospects from the state South Carolina are set to compete.
Dakereon Joyner, Stephon Wynn and RJ Roderick will be counted among the most highly-regarded recruits during the event Sunday at Ridge View High School in Columbia.
Joyner, a 4-star quarterback from Fort Dorchester High in North Charleston, is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 3 overall prospect from the state’s 2018 recruiting cycle. On Father’s Day, he’ll reveal his commitment to either South Carolina or North Carolina State.
Wynn played through his junior season at T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, S.C., but he’s now attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The Clemson legacy is considering a handful of SEC schools, including South Carolina and Georgia.
Roderick (Cane Bay High in Summerville, S.C.) has emerged as one of the most undervalued prospects in the state’s 2018 haul. Even though he already had Virginia to his name, South Carolina’s offer opened the floodgates, signaling the go-ahead for other Power 5 programs.
Last week, Georgia Tech has offered Roderick as a quarterback. Clemson running backs coach/co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott is evaluating him as a running back.
EPT Showcase founder Ramon Robinson said Roderick is planning to compete in the showcase as a defensive back, the position Will Muschamp offered him to play for South Carolina.
Gamecocks wide receiver commitment Darius Rush also has indicated that he will be on hand. The 2018 prospect from C.E. Murray High School (Greeleyville, S.C.) is set to join at least two other future Power 5 pass-catchers: 3-star wide receiver Demarcus Gregory (Duncan, S.C.-Byrnes) and Clemson tight end commitment Braden Galloway (Seneca, S.C.).
Florida, N.C. State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and West Virginia hold spots on Gregory’s list of five finalists.
Though neither of the in-state schools have made an offer, 2018 running backs Mataeo Durant (McCormick) and Kyle Wright (Columbia-Ben Lippen) will play at next level. Both have Power 5 options.
Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and a host of AAC programs have offered Durant while Wright lists offers from Army, Navy, Colorado and East Carolina, among others.
DTs Kelijiha Brown (Saluda, S.C.) and Josh Belk (Richburg, S.C.-Lewisville) are set to be among the top interior line prospects. Brown is committed to Wake Forest and Belk to Clemson.
Though he’s not listed below, 2019 Summerville QB Johnathan Bennett (6-1, 185) will be among the competitors at quarterback, several of whom have futures at the next level.
