ESPN will be on hand for South Carolina’s signing day

Jan. 26, 2017

South Carolina hit the recruiting trail hard in Will Muschamp’s first year, looking to add speed, depth and more talent to the roster inherited from Steve Spurrier.

The fruits of the labor soon will be fully know, as signing day looms Wednesday. ESPN will be on hand for South Carolina’s signing day, the network announced. South Carolina is one 16 football programs that will have an ESPN reporter on site to report live from signing day as the SEC Network’s Tony Barnhart will be in Columbia.

The Gamecocks currently have the No. 14 class, according to 247sports. USC is fighting to hang on to Jamyest Williams, their top commitment, as he will announce his final decision between Georgia and South Carolina on signing day.

Williams, who committed to the Gamecocks in the fall, is scheduled to take an official visit to USC this week.

The Gamecocks currently hold 22 commitments in their 2017 class, with five of those players already on campus as early enrollees, who will take part in spring practices.

ESPN also will be on site at seven other SEC schools, with reporters headed to Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas and Kentucky in addition to USC.
