Ex Gamecock kicker Elliott Fry calls out Dabo Swinney

Well, not everything was perfect — Clemson kicker B.T. Potter missed a 24-yard field goal, and Tigers coach Dabo Swinney let his kicker know about his mistake. Swinney absolutely chewed him out on the sidelines for the missed chip shot.

It was such a bad tongue-lashing, Swinney received criticism for it on Twitter. Former South Carolina kicker Elliott Fry even chimed in:

What's the issue here?  I guess it's ok if you're trolling your rival.  cu missed a FG the previous week when they needed it.  Missed one when they didn't.  I fully support the coach getting on his players.  Attn to details, no matter how small, has helped them win 2 of 3 NCs.  Are kickers that special and sensitive they need to be talked to and handled differently?

Fry has a point. Does he chew out receivers like that when they drop a pass? What about when the QB throws an air ball with open receivers out there? What about when a RB trips up? 

I don't think you see him do like he did that kicker, so it was not right. And it didn't even affect the outcome. I guess that UGA kicker deserved lashes.

The kicker is the only guy he will get on to on the team. He chewed out a punter in the acccg few years back. He knows his other guys are too big of investments to treat like that, he might get reprimanded by the wizard of oz up in da' hills
