Video: Mark Fields Jr. highlights

USC 4 star DB commitment Mark Fields Jr. 5'11" 184lbs of Cornelius, NC has heard and read the rumors that he plans to take more official visits this winter than his one to Columbia. Wednesday night Fields waylaid all of that talk.

“I haven’t set up any visits and I don’t plan on going anywhere but to South Carolina in January,” Fields said. “Pretty much every SEC and ACC school has been talking to me but I just really don’t feel like going on official visits.”

Texas, Georgia and Tennessee are three which have been making a strong push for Fields who has only been to games at USC this season. He plans to see the Gamecocks again when they play at Clemson.

The Gamecocks recruited Fields to play early at cornerback and considering their issues all over the defense, there’s little doubt e will have that opportunity.

“There’s nothing wrong with our defense, we just are missing so many key defensive lineman from last year,” he said. “It’s all about the rebuilding process. Next year we will be right back on track. It’s kind of hard when you lose Clowney and Quarles and all them d-linemen who helped put pressure on the quarterback.”

Fields missed a couple of games this season with turf toe but going into the playoffs he has 38 tackles and 2 interceptions.
