Final weekend before National Signing Day

February 02, 2018

It’s setting up to be an eventful Saturday for South Carolina’s 2018 class. Gamecocks coaches are slated to meet with two of the few remaining targets over the next two days.

On Friday, coaches from South Carolina’s staff will see 3-star defensive end John Mincey (Homerville, Ga.). A day later, 4-star defensive tackle Rick Sandidge (Concord, N.C.) will entertain Muschamp and members of the staff for his final in-home visit.

Georgia, South Carolina’s primary competition for Sandidge, went in-home earlier this week. Coach Kirby Smart made a grand appearance at Concord High School when he landed on the football field in a helicopter.

Sandidge’s mother shared a couple of details from their visit with the Georgia coaches in this video, which Dawg Nation’s Jeff Sentell broke down on Thursday. Keshia Sandidge also added a snippet from the Dawgs coaches’ in-home stop.

Dylan Wonnum, who had his final in-home visit on Thursday night, is set to reveal his decision on Saturday. The 4-star offensive tackle from Tucker, Ga., was visited by offensive coordinator Bryan McClendon, who serves as the Gamecocks’ area recruiter.

McClendon, of course, played a big part in helping to reel in 4-star wide receiver Josh Vann, who signed with the Gamecocks in December.

The time frame for Mincey is still up in the air, but Ole Miss has been angling to squeeze in an official visit this weekend.

For now, it looks like South Carolina won’t have any additional official visitors before Wednesday.
