The kickoff times for the Gamecock's first three games have been established for 2019:

The season-opening game versus North Carolina will be played in BB&T Stadium in Charlotte, and will kick-off at 3:30 pm, and televised by ESPN. The 2nd game against FCS Charleston Southern will be in Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC, and will be a noon kick-off, and televised by SEC Network.

The third game with Alabama, of course, will also be in Williams-Brice, and kick off at 3:30 pm, and will be televised by CBS.

I miss the 7PM start times early in the season!  Not so many years ago (or maybe it was) seems like the first few home games were always at night and this helped avoid most of the heat during the game.  Maybe Bama's sideline being in the hot ass sun all afternoon will help pay dividends.  We will need all and any help we can get.

Two things: one, a lot of those season-opening games were Thursday Night games, where we were one or two of the major conference programs to play on those nights, so often we were the very first or one of the first games to watch on TV at the start of the season. I'm not even sure that ESPN does that format anymore, but I do know that South Carolina ain't doing them now.

Two, those years were before the creation of the SEC Network, where now ALL SEC teams find a way to get games televised. This means games can't be played all at the same times in their areas, but more effort is made to spread them out during the days, to give all of them chances to get televised. So some games are getting pushed down towards the mid-day times, to find slots for them. In any event, CBS' SEC select games usually have 3:30 pm kick-offs, unless sometimes they have doubleheaders. They usually don't start until a couple or so of weeks into the season, but this will be Alabama's opening SEC game (ours too, but....), and they are the crown prince program for CBS, so we get the 3:30 time. CBS could have tried for a 7pm time, but that's usually reserved for ESPN and ABC broadcasts.....

Like the night games in Sept. hot and have the full day to enjoy.
