USC’s new basketball coaching staff will host its first prospect for an official visit Wednesday in 6-8 Mindaugas (Minda) Kacinas, a Lithuanian who attends Word of Life Academy in Wichita, KS. Frank Martin and his staff recruited Kacinas when they were at Kansas State. This season he averaged 26 points and 15 rebounds per game and was named a NACA All American. “He’s the best talent I’ve ever laid eyes on,” Word of Life athletic director and Superintendent Dr. Gordon Schultz said Tuesday. Kacinas lives with Schultz who says he’s an even better person and student than ball player. But he can’t ignore his basketball skills. “They would be getting a terrific athlete and basketball player. He doesn’t mind getting coached up. He shoots the thunder out of the ball. He was well coach and schooled. He’s a leaper and runs extremely well. He involves his teammates and has a great work ethic.” He also has a twin brother who is 6-10 and living in Lithuania. Kacinas, himself, is still growing according to Schultz. Schultz added that Kacinas has drawn interest from across the country and couldn’t say if he would commit to the Gamecocks on his visit. link: http://www.goupstate.com/article/20120417/PSPORTS02/120419669/-1/PSPORTS
