Five star RB Marshawn Lloyd does not want to be the work horse on any school he chooses

April 09, 2019

I'm not sure if the Gamecocks have a realistic shot at Lloyd or not. Reports seem to indicate that we're at least in a legitimate position to fight for him. If I were Thomas Brown, I'd try to get Bigsby and Lloyd into a room together and say, "You're each one of the top RBs in the country. Look at the guy next to you. If you both come to Carolina, that person is going to help you get better, and help preserve your body for an opportunity at a lucrative career after your time here is up."

Think about what could have been for Marcus if there was another back on that team that could have taken the burden off of him on a more consistent basis. I'm not saying he would have avoided both knee injuries because they were pretty fluky anyways, but you just never know how things could have turned out.

RB is one of the shortest life-cycle positions in the NFL. If a player wants to spend 3-4 years getting banged up 35 times a game, 12-15 games per year without any income, then that's their prerogative, but I think most young RBs nowadays are being wisely advised to find a school that will split their carries.
