The Gamecocks need playmakers in the 2020 class and they'll get one of the best in the country on campus this weekend in Washington (D.C.) St. John's five-star wide receiver Rakim Jarrett 6'0' 190LBS, who is ranked the No. 2 wide receiver in his class and No. 15 overall player. listed Ohio State, USC, Florida, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama as the final six schools.

You can immediately see what Jarrett’s biggest strength is, his first step. He is really good off the snap. Whether he’s getting past defensive backs on deep go’s, or inside DB’s on slants. It takes him no time at all to get open.

Jarrett doesn’t just get open off the snap. He’s really good at getting open on broken plays. Jarrett will break his route to make himself easier to find for a quarterback on the run. That’s what he excels at the most, he gets open. He’s very reliable for his quarterbacks. He cuts hard, outruns DB’s, where there is open space, he finds it.

He doesn’t have great hands. Jarrett can be seen relying on his body to secure catches, maybe too much. A high-velocity throw might be tough for him to handle. But he does a good job bringing the ball to his body quickly if he’s not able to make it with just his hands. That quickness will help him hold on to passes when he’s hit.

Gamecocks are a very much a long shot, but you never know. By most, he will be heading to the Buckeye State. Clemson, LSU Tennessee are also in the big picture for his services.
