USC will cap a busy recruiting weekend Saturday with its final camp of the summer and one who plans to attend is DB

Deon Edwards (6-3 198) of Lake Minneola, FL. Edwards is being recruited as a safety but can also play a rover position closer to the line of scrimmage because of his size. He also can play corner. He had 50 tackles and one interceptions last season when he played much of the way with a broken hand, and 112 tackles and seven picks as a sophomore.

“I feel wherever a team puts me, I’m going to make the best of it and put my best foot forward,” Edwards said. He has offers from USC, Missouri, Arkansas, Central Florida, Louisville, NC State, Indiana, South Florida, Florida International, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky.

‘I”m waiting for that school that shows me as much love as they can, makes me feet at home and makes me feel comfortable,” Edwards said. “South Carolina, Missouri, Arkansas and Central Florida standout because they are recruiting me the hardest.”

The USC camp will be his first of the summer though he has visited Arkansas and Missouri. He plans to take official visits to USC, Arkansas and Missouri this fall.

“South Carolina came out of nowhere,” he said. “They were the first offer I ever had, in my junior year. That put South Carolina on the map, they showed me love first. They got my recruiting process started.”

Edwards watched the video of Steve Spurrier earlier this week when he cleared the air about his coaching future, and he was glad to hear that news.

“I actually thought that Coach Spurrier would eventually retire but I watched the little interview and he said that he was going to stay with his players so that made me feel a lot more comfortable. It’s an outstanding football team. I definitely see myself playing at South Carolina. They have a great football program, great football coaches and great facilities. I would like to learn more education wise but I do know they have a good graduation rate.”

Edwards said he does not have a leader but he said Arkansas has been recruiting the hardest of all the schools. His father and brother will join him on the visit to USC.

“I’m weighing my options and I’m going to look around and see if I like the school, and if I like it, that’s something I’ll go back home and talk over and make a decision then,” he said. “If I’m comfortable and I love the school and the coaches love me, I’ll commit.”
