A USC defensive end target in Florida is Jake Lichtenstein (6-5 245) of Weston and he’s planning to check out the Gamecocks this summer. Last week he visited Kentucky.
The Gamecocks and Wildcats are two of his top ten right now along with West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Oregon State, Temple, Rutgers and Iowa State from his 18 offers.
“I’ve been talking to Coach Thompson and Coach Muschamp,” Lichtenstein said. “Coach Thompson said he wants to get me up here as soon as possible. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to make it up there until the summer but I’m definitely planning on getting up there for sure.”
Lichtenstein said Thompson likes what he has seen of him on film and feels there’s a spot for him in the Gamecock defense.
“He loves my length, my get off speed and he loves the way I use my hands,’ he said. “I think they are really turning the program around for sure. Great coaches. Coach Muschamp just tells me how he wants to get a lot of boys from South Carolina and how they are working real hard and they are coming back to greatness.”
Lichtenstein said he doesn’t have a favorite at this point and hopes to make his decision by the end of the summer.
