Florida State LB commit finalizes South Carolina official visit plans

December 12, 2017

Florida State linebacker commitment Rosendo Louis has finalized plans to take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend.

That’s according to an interview Phil Kornblut had with Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School coach Javon Glenn.

“He was high on South Carolina early,” Glenn said. “He committed to Florida State, and with the coaching change he had to look at things, but South Carolina was always one of his favorites.

Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson has helped keep the Gamecocks in the mix.

“T-Rob did a good job of building a relationship with him,” Glenn said. “He’s been on campus several times for camps and visits.”

According to the 247Sports composite, Louis is ranked as the No. 23 inside linebacker in the Class of 2018.

Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami and Oklahoma were among the many schools with offers on the table, prior to his commitment. The Oregon staff, which is now in place at Florida State, also offered.

The Gamecocks have one linebacker committed to sign in 2018: 3-star Ernest Jones IV (Waycross, Ga.). Four-star linebacker Channing Tindall (Columbia, S.C.) is also up for grabs. Georgia, Auburn and Florida remain in the mix for him.

Like Jones, Louis is a midyear enrollee.

If Robinson and coach Will Muschamp are able to flip Louis, he would be the second Florida State former commitment to join South Carolina’s 2018 class. Three-star defensive back Israel Mukuamu jumped on board over the weekend
