CITY, N.J. - The nation’s No. 4 & 5 star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick is relatively wide open.
“I’m interested in all of my offers,” Fitzpatrick told 247Sports at his high school last week. “I should have a Top 10 by the end of winter.”
There are three schools he has high interest in.
“I like Ohio State a lot,” Fitzpatrick said. “I like Miami a lot. I like South Carolina a lot.”
The No. 1 junior in New Jersey details what sticks out about those programs.
South Carolina - “That’s a great program. I love the way its run. I like coach (Steve) Spurrier and coach (Lorenzo) Ward. I love the campus. My parents loved it. They have a great defensive backfield.”
Ohio State - “Coach Urban Meyer is undefeated at that school. That’s appealing to all athletes. They are a great defensive school. They have a lot of big names that stand out.”
Miami - “I visited there in February. It was 80 degrees there and 30 back home and snowing. Paul Williams is a great defensive backs coach. Miami is a great school with a nice campus. There’s not much size to the school which is good, too.”
The four-star standout from Jersey City (NJ) St. Joseph’s Prep has 21 offers.
“My newest offers are from Notre Dame, LSU and Pittsburgh,” Fitzpatrick said. “My biggest offers are from LSU, Stanford, South Carolina, Ohio State and Notre Dame.”
Alabama, Michigan and Virginia Tech are showing interest.
“I’m hoping for offers from Alabama, Michigan and Clemson,” Fitzpatrick said.
The No. 35 overall prospect in the 2015 class has been to Ohio State, Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Miami.
“I’m going to go to Rutgers, Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Clemson and Miami,” Fitzpatrick said.
As a junior, Fitzpatrick has two interceptions.
As a sophomore, Fitzpatrick recorded 21 tackles, 12 pass breakups and two interceptions.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder bench presses 315 pounds, squats 505 pounds, runs a 4.50-second 40-yard dash and holds a 3.6 GPA.
