On Jan. 25, Miami got a verbal commitment from four-star defensive end Joseph Jackson (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep). Since that point, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound pass rusher has seen interest from other schools increase. "It seems that other schools that I already had offers from have been recruiting me even harder," Jackson said.
One of those is the schools is South Carolina. "They were actually the first school that offered me," he said. "Plus they have a habit of sending defensive ends to the NFL." Alabama is the other. "Their football program is just as strong as Miami," he said.
Jackson hopes to make unofficial and official visits to Tuscaloosa and Columbia, along with Clemson and Illinois, starting this summer unofficially. But there's a reason that Jackson committed to the Canes, along with his high school teammates- receiver Dionte Mullins and safety Cedrick Wright.
"It was a team thing, me and my brothers have been playing together since Pop Warner," Jackson said. "We all want to play together. There is no better place to do it than Miami and to help change the program, to help turn it around. Plus, Miami has a really good program for my major."
