CHESTER, Va. - Four-star defensive tackle Darvin Taylor 6'2" 295lbs has family ties all over the Southeast.

His sister, Devanee’ Taylor, is a senior for Newberry College’s women’s basketball team in South Carolina. His father is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and his mother originates from Norfolk, Virginia.

How or could that influence his college choice?

“I don’t have any favorites or any high interest in any schools,”

But he does have some noteworthy offers from all of those areas. Places he’s either been to or plans on visiting this fall.

So far, the nation’s No. 17 defensive tackle prospect in the 2015 class has stopped by Florida State, Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina State.

This fall the Chester (VA) Thomas Dale standout plans to attend a few games.

“I’m going to the Clemson-South Carolina game, the Florida State-Clemson game, the West Virginia-Texas game and games at Virginia Tech and North Carolina,” Taylor said.

South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Florida State, Miami, Old Dominion, Virginia, Clemson and North Carolina State have offered. LSU, Ohio State, Florida, Oregon and Nebraska are showing interest.

The No. 9 junior in Virginia, according to 247Sports, details what he likes about some of the places he’s been.

Virginia Tech - “Its close to home. It feels like home. I love it there. One of my teammates, C.J. Reavis, is committed there and recruiting me for them.”

Florida State - “I enjoyed my visit there. I like the atmosphere. It felt home.”

Miami - “We had a player tour us around. Its closer to my dad. I wouldn’t mind moving.”

South Carolina - “They have (Jadeveon) Clowney. My sister goes to school by there.”

Taylor is ranked as the No. 199 overall recruit in the 2015 class by 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder bench presses 310 pounds, squats 465 pounds, runs a 5.1-second 40-yard dash and holds a 3.3 GPA.

As a sophomore, Taylor recorded 50 tackles and two sacks.
