Evanston (Ill.) High four-star defensive tackle Naquan Jones is talking to two schools the most at this point in the recruiting process.
“Coach (Deke) Adams from South Carolina and Coach (Ron) Burton from Michigan State,” Jones said.
The nation’s No. 25 defensive tackle has offers from both the Gamecocks and the Spartans among others. He’s been to both schools and plans to hit them each again soon.
“I should be getting down to South Carolina and Missouri again during spring break,” Jones said. “And do a Big Ten swing soon with Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, schools like that.”
The 6-foot-4, 283-pound Jones got his first look at the Gamecocks in Febuary.
It was great,” he said. “They had all the new facilities being built. I had a really long good talk with Coach Adams. Coach (Steve) Spurrier was a nice guy. Everybody knows the hype of Coach Spurrier. Just being able to meet him was a great experience.”
Jones hasn’t been to East Lansing since the fall.
“I like that their defensive line they work hard. Enoch (Smith) I’m talking to him when I get the opportunity and he tells me they’re hard-working guys, and if you have that mindset and work ethic just come down.”
