Four-star safety Trey Dean de-commits from Tennessee after South Carolina in-home
December 07, 2017
Four-star safety Trey Dean de-committed from Tennessee on Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after seeing a coach from South Carolina.
Gamecock defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson had an in-home visit Dean on Wednesday night. Dean, the No. 22 safety in the Class of 2018, committed to former Vols coach Butch Jones.
Kentucky was also in to see Dean on Wednesday night.
Jones’ successor, as of Thursday morning, is Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
At one point before Dean (Hampton, Ga.) committed to Tennessee, South Carolina was mentioned as a favorite. The Dutchtown High School 4-star is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 28 overall prospect in the state of Georgia.
South Carolina remains in the mix for a handful of defensive backs, including former Tennessee commitment Jaycee Horn (Alpharetta, Ga.), former Florida State commitment Israel Mukuamu (Bossier City, La.) and Florida State commitment Asante Samuel Jr.
