Four transfers looking for new football homes spent time at Carolina over the weekend, and all four could land in Shane Beamer’s program over the next few days. The Gamecocks have already taken six transfers for this class, five from four-year programs and one from a junior college, and Beamer has not been shy about shopping the portal for talent to fill holes in his roster.
OT Sidney Fugar of Western Illinois visited Cincinnati before coming to Columbia. He and new offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley have had a relationship going back several years and that has worked in the Gamecocks’ favor.
Utah transfer RB Micah Bernard (6-0 200) posted photos of himself in a Gamecock uniform on his Instagram account. Over the last two seasons, he combined for 1056 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns, and 60 receptions with 3 touchdowns. The native of Los Cerritos, CA is a grad transfer and has two years of eligibility remaining.
LB Jaron Willis (6-2 235) was at Ole Miss this season as a freshman where he played in one game and did not record any stats. The native of Leesburg, GA was recruited by the Gamecocks in high school and actually had them in his top ten. But they did not make the cut to his top six. He eventually committed to Georgia Tech before signing with Ole Miss.
SAF Tre’Vez Johnson (5-11 194) spent three seasons at Florida where he was a contributor from his freshman season. He started most of the past two seasons. The Jacksonville native played in 34 games and totaled 65 tackles with 7 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 9 pass breakups. Johnson visited Missouri earlier and he left USC for a visit to Auburn.
