Franklin talks commitment to Stanford

DB Denzel Franklin of Atlanta committed to Stanford a few weeks ago choosing The Cardinal over USC and Navy. Franklin was planning a trip to Columbia that he never took. "I only visited Stanford and Navy to be honest," said Franklin. "I never visited South Carolina. I haven't really heard from them lately." Franklin was high on the Gamecocks throughout his recruitment. "They were to first to offer me and I always liked them," he said. "But I think Stanford is the right place for me. They have a good mix of academics and high-level football. I decided I needed a change and that I didn't want to stay in the South." The Gamecocks appear to have their full allotment of defensive backs committed for the 2014 class and that could explain why they have not contacted Franklin of late. He says he is fully committed to Stanford and will not take any other visits.
