South Carolina is one of the schools to contact OT Mason Brooks (6-6 305), who is transferring from Western Kentucky, according to 247Sports. Brooks was a two-time first team All C-USA selection. It’s also been reported that USC contacted former Florida commitment Jayden Gibson of Winter Garden, FL. He plans to visit Oklahoma this weekend.
South Carolina commitment WR Landon Samson of Southlake, TX was offered by TCU.
WR Kaleb Webb of Powder Springs, GA, who is a former ECU commitment and has an offer from South Carolina, will announce Friday with Tennessee, Michigan and Louisville the finalists.
Gamecock target LB Stone Blanton of Madison, MS had his in-home visit with Mississippi State defensive coordinator Zach Arnett Thursday night. USC coaches were in the home earlier this week. He’s deciding anytime now from USC, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Blanton had considered taking a visit to one of his three favorites this weekend but said Thursday night he won’t travel anywhere this weekend. He could go to Wednesday before announcing a decision.
