COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The University of South Carolina baseball team continues its road trip in the upstate as the Gamecocks (7-4) face Furman on Tuesday night (March 3) at 6 p.m. in Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C. Tuesday's game will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network. All games also will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM with Tommy Moody and Michael Roth on the call. Carolina dropped 2-of-3 games to Clemson this past weekend, winning Saturday's game at Segra Park, 8-5, as Thomas Farr threw five quality innings and Jeff Heinrich had three RBI in the win.

PROBABLE PITCHING ROTATION
Tuesday
South Carolina Parker Coyne (Jr. RHP) 0-0, 6.00 ERA, 3.0 IP, 5 BB, 6 SO
Furman Matt Lazzaro (Jr. LHP) 0-0, 3.38 ERA, 8.0 IP, 5 BB, 9 SO

SCOUTING FURMAN
The Paladins (5-6) were swept by Fordham this past weekend by scores of 5-1, 8-3 and 11-3. Jordan Starkes was 3-for-4 with an RBI in the Sunday series finale. On the season, Starkes is hitting .359 with eight RBI while MJ Sasapan has 10 hits on the year. The Gamecocks will see lefty Matt Lazzaro on the mound. He has nine strikeouts in eight innings of work this season.

SERIES VS. FURMAN
Carolina holds a 117-57-2 all-time series lead on Furman heading into Tuesday's contest. The teams split the season series last year with both squads winning on the road. Carolina picked up a 12-7 win over the Paladins on March 19 as Brady Allen drove in four runs and TJ Hopkins was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

FARR AND AWAY HIS BEST OUTING OF THE YEAR
Redshirt sophomore Thomas Farr allowed just two hits and one earned run with three strikeouts and a walk in five innings of work in Carolina's 8-5 win over Clemson on Saturday, Feb. 29 in Segra Park. Farr allowed the run in the first inning and then threw up four straight zeroes on the scoreboard in his 85-pitch performance. On the season, Farr is 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA and eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings.

EYSTER PICKS UP TOM PRICE AWARD
Junior Andrew Eyster was given the Tom Price Award, handed out to the Most Valuable Player for the Gamecocks in the Clemson series. Eyster went 3-for-10 with a pair of doubles and a triple in the three contests against the Tigers. Eyster leads Carolina with a .359 average and three doubles.

There could be a weather issue - it looks to be raining in Greenville for much of the day, but is supposed to level off around 4-5 PM, so perhaps by 6 PM we'll be able to get a game in. I hope so - we need to get this losing to Clemson stench off of us as soon as possible. We still have another game tomorrow at Founders Park against Boston College....

Yay!  We got a hit!  Allen breaks up the no hitter..lol

Top 8th, Gamecocks may have something going here: Heinrich singles and Myers walks, to put 2 men on with 0 outs. Furman's starting pitcher went 100+ pitches, but they are finally going to the bullpen. Andrew Eyster is at the plate....

Now bases are loaded, 2 outs. Dallas Beaver pinch hits.......

This half inning seems to have lasted as long as the rest of the game so far and we haven't scored a run yet.  Bases are loaded for Beaver.

We just don't really have pressure hitters.  At least what I've seen of this team so far in the big moments of games.
