Game week 5: Talking  Kentucky (Discussion Thread)

Big week yes big game vs Kentucky. Gamecocks get their chance to break a 5 game losing streak

Let's talk Kentucky and what it will take the Gamecocks to win in the COCK-PIT Saturday night?

Whats up with Kentucky

The Cats will look to snap their two-game losing skid when they take on the Gamecocks.

The 2019 season is off to a rough start for the Kentucky Wildcats. After winning their first two games of the season, the Cats have dropped two in a row to start conference play 0-2.

Not only have the Wildcats lost to Florida and Mississippi State, but they’ve lost their starting quarterback Terry Wilson for the season due to a torn patellar tendon. They are now starting a graduate transfer in Sawyer Smith, who’s playing with a bad shoulder and wrist.

Needing a win to turn their season around, the Wildcats will head to Columbia next weekend to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Whats up with South Carolina

The Gamecocks have had a rough start of their own this season, as they currently sit 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Like Kentucky, the Gamecocks lost their starting quarterback Jake Bentley to a season-ending injury.

Both teams need the victory to turn their respective seasons around, making Saturday’s game crucial for both programs.

While South Carolina leads the all-time series over Kentucky 17-12, it’s the Wildcats who have had the upper-hand of late, as they have won the last five matchups between the two schools, including two wins in Columbia.

Can the Cats win a sixth straight over the Gamecocks? Here’s all some information you need to know for next Saturday.

Don't know how, don't know why. But I think we play a complete game, both on offense and defense, to win.

Feel the same way, if not now when does this staff and players get their act together. Gotta happen now!!

Looking at the season's trends, last time we lost after a sub par offensive performance we hung 70 in a shut out. Here's to hoping the trend continues. This is a huge game, neither the team nor Muschamp can afford to lose, hoping they play like it. I expect the fans show up, pack the 'brice and make some noise, I just hope the home team doesn't fall flat like the last big home game at night against KY. I can't say I am optimistic, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

If we win, stadium will remain 80%-100% full for some games. We lose and tickets will be cheap and easy to come by

We better win. That’s all that needs to be said. We’ve lost 5 in a row to UK....

UK

and not in basketball

some semblance of a pass rush and we should win

Going in to the season, this is the ONE game I wanted more than any of them. Not only am I just sick and tired of losing to them, but I see UK as a benchmark, a game that often indicates upper or lower tier in the east.  Unfortunately, I see us below the dividing line right now. We have talent but we have been totally unable to convert it to wins. I have been so discouraged by both our offensive and defensive play and lack of consistency that I am just not optimistic. Usually I am not that way and I really want to be wrong, but I can't unsee what I've seen.

Very hopeful that this is a win. It does help that it's a night game and Kentucky 's second in a row road game.
