Gamecock BB Recruiting: 2013 Recruiting Updates

South Carolina's season officially ended on Wednesday night with a loss to Mississippi State in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

It was a tough season for the Gamecocks but Martin and his staff did have some small, bright moments in the 2012-2013 season. However, it's easy to see that there needs to be an infusion of new talent on this roster and this coaching staff continues to push through to find prospects that could elevate the Gamecocks next season.

Here are a few updates on some prospects to keep an eye on in the next few months:
■High school forward Demetrius Henry has set his visit to South Carolina and he'll make the trip to Columbia on March 21st and stay through the 23rd. Henry is a definite talent that could certainly add a nice post presence for the Gamecocks next season. The Gamecocks are one of three remaining teams including Miami and South Florida.
■South Carolina recently began showing interest in point guard Martez Harrison. The 5-foot-10 point guard from Brewester Academy has seen some increased interest from several teams with South Carolina being the best option on the table. The Gamecocks have not offered yet but Harrison is familiar with Frank Martin during his time at Kansas State.
■There are two new prep school offers out on the table and their teammates at Believe Prep in Rock Hill. The teammates are Leroy "Truck" Fludd and Shadell Millinghaus. Fludd, a 6-foot-5 forward, was being recruited by the Gamecocks last year while he played in New York but elected to attend prep school. Fludd will take a look at Utah, West Virginia and Colorado State. Millinghaus, a 6-foot-3 guard, has interest from Oregon and West Virginia. Both players are expected to visit USC in the coming weeks.

These are four prospects, not including Kentucky guard Dominique Hawkins, that all have offers, or close to offers, and the Gamecocks are heavily involved with. The South Carolina roster for next season is set with the current players and incoming freshman/transfers.

The fact that South Carolina continues to recruit these players should give a good indication that there will be some roster attrition in the coming weeks. Martin is expected to meet with every player and decide what their focus should be in the offseason and determine if they are ready to continue to be a Gamecock.

It was an interesting season that will continue to be interesting real soon.
