Gamecocks Host Boston U Tuesday Night

Should be a fun game to watch but by the 2nd half we will be blowing them out. BU players 4 G's and 1 F as starters and they really don't sub a lot. And surprisingly with that line up, they are not much at 3 PT's either. We are going to eat them up underneath and off the boards. It is going to be a chance for Coach Martin to get his bench a lot of time again.

I watched part of their game against Vermont. Their offense struggled as they shot under 30% from the floor. Based on what I saw if our defense comes out and is intense and physical like it has been, we should have no problem getting the W.

Carolina up 38-35 at the half.

This is not the Boston team I saw a few days ago. They're just out-hustling us, especially the last 7-8 minutes.

A tight first half as the Gamecocks go into the lockerroom up 38-35, with a tie-breaking 3-ptr. hit by A.J. Lawson in the final seconds. Lawson and Maik Kotsar (!!) are tied for the team lead with 10 pts each - Kotsar off of 5 for 5 shooting, and he also has 5 rebounds (!!!). Frink added 7 pts. Nine total players in the game have a total of nine fouls, so not much foul trouble in the first half, and not many free throws. Lets hunker down and own the 2nd half.....

They've gotten more contribution from their bench thus far, out-scoring us in bench points 14-5. We're also pretty even in turnovers - Boston edges us 7 TOs to our 6 - but Boston has scored 8 pts off of our TOs, to our scoring only 4 pts off of theirs....

If I've tallied correctly, they have 13 second chance points compared to our 7. That's what I was referring to with them out-hustling us.

Gamecocks lose to Boston U 78-70 for their first loss of the season.....it was tied 60-60, then Boston out-scored the Gamecocks 18-10 to close out the game. The Gamecocks never shot the ball all that well at any point of the game, but they dropped off a bit starting the 2nd half, then really fell off at the end there....

We'll be alright. Ugly night for sure, but this is still Frank's best team top-to-bottom so far. They'll bounce back

Went to the game.

BU's Humphreys and Mahoney had great hops and their shots fell.  Ours didn't.

They killed us on the perimeter and at the FT line.

I thought the team played with good energy, but couldn't get the shots to fall.

Their coach coached his ass off the entire game and their defense was very good.

It looked to me like a competitive game between two evenly matched teams, but our shots didn't fall and we lost.

The home crowd was into the game until about the 6:00 mark in the second half.  Really good energy until then because they know the team can shoot most of the time.

Augusta College 2.0, though.

We knew losses were going to happen. Hopefully they will take this one and learn from it so they can win some of those games we are not expected to win. Yes, this can affect us getting in, but with enough wins from here on out, no one will even consider this game. Just hope some lessons get learned. Our D was off and we had our worse 3PT shooting (18.2%) in a long time. Really should have tried to carry it inside more. My buddy that went said it was a lot of air balls. Not really close. Fix it and move on.

AJ and Keyshawn were always the sparks for comebacks last year.

We didn't have Key last night, but other players were still trying to get us back into the game on offense.

The crowd was pretty electric once they realized the Terriers were pretty good and it was going to be a close game.

The CLA will be a blast if we win most of our games this year.

Official attendance was 10,113 for only the fourth OOC game of the season against an unranked opponent.

So the excitement is there if we just start playing better and keep getting the wins.

Pre-conference doesn't really matter based on the intensity I saw in the stands last night.

Sounds sorta like what we heard about the football team early on and we all know how that turned out.
