Gamecocks Face Wichita State Tuesday In Cancun

South Carolina (4-1) continues action in the Cancun Challenge on Tuesday when it faces Wichita State (5-0) at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun at 6 p.m. ET.  The matchup, which marks the first meeting between the two schools, will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network along with the Gamecock Radio Network.

Northern Iowa lost to West Virginia 60-55, so we play the Panthers in the loser's bracket, so to speak. UNI is 6-1 and gave WVU everything they could handle - they will be as difficult an opponent as Wichita State was last night, so the Gamecocks need to find their game and take leadership or it will be another ugly loss.

Its hard to do this in a tournament format, with games coming at you night after night. Either you come prepared and with focus, or you don't. The Gamecocks didn't have that focus last night, so things will be hard tonight. But as always, Go Gamecocks!

We are an even match-up with UNI just like we were with Wichita St.

South Carolina has jumped out in the 2nd half and have tied the game up 50-50 with 15:28 left to play. Hopefully they are able to keep the offense up - they have been pretty streaky thus far....

Gamecocks hold slight lead 59-58 at the mid-point of the 2nd half.....but they are killing themselves at the FT line: they are 4-10, while UNI is 12-16....

Every chance we get to close the gap, they pop a 3-pointer. Every time. Same with the Wichita St. game - we cannot stop opponents from scoring right now, which for a Frank Martin team, is like a Will Muschamp FB team not able to stop opponents from scoring at will, which has also been happening a lot lately....

not gonna beat many teams when you give up 50/40/80 shooting splits and get outscored at the ft line 20 to 5.  sounds like the offense was better

Gamecocks fall to 4-3 with a 78-72 loss to Northern Iowa. A.J. Lawson led USC with 20 points, and 4 Gamecocks scored in double digits, but they weren't able to stop UNI's 3-pt shooting at critical moments in the game (they were 8-20), and the Gamecocks were horrible at the free throw line (5-11) compared to UNI (20-24): the FT disparity alone cost USC the game - usually we will foul a lot, but we have often induced opponents into fouling us a lot as well, but not this game.....

I'm not happy about it, but at least it was a close, hard-fought game against UNI. Better than the previous 3 games where it seemed that we got punched in the mouth and were just waiting for the KO punch. Hopefully they can learn from this trip and get it together.

I agree with you here...but it doesn't make me feel any better for some reason

The good thing is most Carolina fans were focused on football this week and probably didn't pay much attention to these losses.

Hopefully we get Keyshawn back for the UMass game and start ramping up for Clemson and UVA soon after.
