Gamecocks Face Wichita State Tuesday In Cancun
 
South Carolina (4-1) continues action in the Cancun Challenge on Tuesday when it faces Wichita State (5-0) at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun at 6 p.m. ET.  The matchup, which marks the first meeting between the two schools, will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network along with the Gamecock Radio Network.

We are pretty evenly matched up so far this season and I am sure Frank heard the chatter about Gregg Marshall several years ago.  We'll get the win from that motivation alone.

Almost mirror images of each other. 

 
Wichita State will be the toughest test to date for the Gamecocks. They have a decent RPI but the 5 opponents they have beaten are a combined 5-20 on the season thus far. Our own opponents we've played are a combined 8-20, and we've lost to one of them. We struggled to beat winless Gardner-Webb 74-69, while Wichita State handled them far more easily 74-52. But both programs - South Carolina and Wichita State - have played against 300+ ranked strength of schedules thus far, so we are the toughest opponent each will have played at this point.

Hopefully our team comes prepared to give one of their better efforts this season: we haven't always shown our best in road games, but this is one occasion where we need to...

 
This has nothing to do with tonight's game, just wanted to throw this out.  Bob Huggins great guy and coach he is my Brothers wife first cousin. Met him a few times especially when he was the head coach at Cincinnati.  Bob help with my nephew did a little baby sitting when his mom pass away. We went up to Ohio to attend the funeral.  

Potential matchup between ‘misunderstood’ coaches awaits South Carolina in Cancun

Nowadays — a long time since the two served on the same coaching staff — Frank Martin will sit in his South Carolina basketball office, stare at the ceiling and hear Bob Huggins’ husky voice.

He’s talking about switching defenses to better fit personnel, he’s instilling confidence in a player who is close to giving up hope, he’s helping a close friend get a job, he’s screaming at Martin for their team getting beat by Rajon Rondo jump shots.

Martin, with the Gamecocks, and Huggins, with West Virginia, are in Mexico this week for the Cancun Challenge. USC (4-1) plays Wichita State (5-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday and WVU (4-0) takes on Northern Iowa (6-0) afterward. Should the Gamecocks and Mountaineers both win — or lose — they’ll meet Wednesday.


 

 
I'm excited about this game.  We should definitely see if any lessons were learned from the Boston game.  The team is young, so it is critical they show progress as the season unfolds.  Wichita St. has been a consistent Tourney team under Marshall...so is a really good opportunity for this team to demonstrate any lessons learned so far in the season.  Go Cocks.

Man we cannot hit three throw also W. State just about as bad. But they can hit lights out while will trying just to find the barn. 

 
Gamecocks fall to 4-2 to Wichita State 70-47. Maik Kotsar was really only Gamecock to step up for the game - he led the team with 12 pts, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, and was 2nd as well in rebounding with 7 boards. Lawson only took 6 shots, Minaya only took 4, Bolden took 10 shots, but only completed 2 of them. Team was 8-17 at the free throw line. Just a pretty timid effort overall by the team tonight.....

 
This team is gonna be at or below .500 this year in the SEC. Same shit Different year. Boy Martin was a great hire.
