Big loss. How big is TBD but this one sets us back not only with returning production, quality starter, depth, but possibly in recruiting as well. No such thing as a commitment anymore due to the $ thrown at these kids. Commitment, like many other things, has various definitions and diminishing value these days.

I don't understand this one anymore than I did Lloyd hitting the portal.

Maybe they think Shane has guys coming in that are going to threaten their PT right away. That's the other side of this.

It goes back to what someone said in the pre-bowl presser about guys just two weeks out of high school playing like grown men.

Wish him well, regardless.

Well good news think that's it for portal guys leaving and nothing as a fan we can do about it just will be a very young team but talented but will have depth issues unless can find quality placements per the portal. As of Jan. 18, the portal will close for those who choose to enter...

So it seems common knowledge that Burch had an offer and SC couldn't or wouldn't beat it, prior to him entering the portal...how is this not a clear case of tampering?
IT's the wild west of college football. Anything goes these days. Apparently.

I don't blame the kid and I wish him no ill will....at some point in ones life loyalty to the dollar will come back and bite you and I hope if the NFL doesn't work out that his hometown remembers that he sough greener pastures

He would be one of those guys justified in leaving early for the NFL if that happened and anybody could understand that; that applies to Wells and Rattler as well.

I just don't understand why anyone in his position with the team would want to put himself in a position where he had to learn another system at this critical time in his college career.

Not gonna judge him, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah this does not add up. Does he not see himself as having a big NFL career, so he is trying to cash in now? Who knows...

Transferring to Oregon to play for Dan Lanning.

Lanning was Georgia's defensive coordinator during Burch's initial recruitment, and it appears their longstanding relationship paid dividends. Given Lanning's well-documented track record of sending Georgia defenders on to the NFL, and Oregon's own recent track record at the position, the Ducks wound up as a natural landing spot.

Still don't get it. Guess he will be more of a standout out there given Oregon's less demanding schedule compared to the SEC.

He will also be a long, long way from home. To each his own, I guess.

This, he is going to have a huge season out there! Hate to see him leave and wish him nothing but succes unless he is playing South Carolina!
Be interesting to see and I hope for his sake it works out well for him. 4.5 sacks in 3 years here so he will need to dial it up to really get up there on the draft boards unless they move him inside where I think he could have in impact.
