12/08/2020 Staff Report
The linebacker has led the Gamecocks in tackles each of the last two seasons, and this year, he was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise forgettable season. His absence at the end of the season because of injury was noticeable.
But Jones has decided to enter the NFL Draft, and he made his announcement on Tuesday. The heart and soul of the Gamecocks defense, Jones became the third player to officially leave the Gamecocks program a year early for the NFL. He joined star defensive backs Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu, in making his announcement.
Jones, who played in nine games this season for the Gamecocks but missed the final game against Kentucky and much of the Georgia game because of a leg injury, finished the season with 86 total tackles. He had one quarterback sack, three quarterback hurries and recovered a fumble.

To my teammates, thank you! Everyday we came to work you guys pushed me to be at my best. You are all truly my brothers and the relationships I have gained with each of you won’t be forgotten!
To my coaches and strength staff. Thank you for pouring a lot of time and energy into making me not only a better athlete but a better man. The knowledge I gained from each of you will help me as I move on to this next chapter.
To the fans of University of South Carolina, my second home. The moment I stepped on campus I felt the love and passion you have for Gamecock football. Thank you for always supporting me and being the best fans in college football. It made every game in Williams-Brice Stadium unforgettable.
