Gamecock quarterback commit helps team to Delaware state championship

QB Braden Davis finished off his high school career in style - with a state championship. The South Carolina quarterback commit helped his Middletown High School to the Delaware Class 3A championship on Saturday. Davis ran for a TD and threw the game-winning touchdown pass in the 28-22 win over Smyrna at the University of Delaware.
It was Middletown’s first championship since 2012 and eighth overall for the school. It was its first at the Class 3A level. Trailing 22-21 in the fourth, Middletown drove down the field and faced a fourth-and-goal. The Cavaliers went for it and Davis hit Zachary Caldwell for the three-yard TD to make it 28-22.
