Gamecock recruiting report busy week for South Carolina
Dec. 02, 2021
Gamecock target WR Camden Brown of Ft. Lauderdale announced a decommitment from Pitt Wednesday night and reopened his recruiting. His announcement came a day after an in-home visit Gamecocks receivers coach Justin Stepp, and on the day he had in home visits with Auburn coach Bryan Harsin and Arizona coach Jedd Fisch. Brown has set an official visit to Auburn this coming weekend and one to Arizona the following weekend. He is unsure if he will sign this month.
LB Stone Blanton of Madison, MS will have an in-home visit with Gamecock defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clayton White Thursday and with head coach Shane Beamer Tuesday. Blanton had an in-home visit with Mississippi State earlier in the week.
Gamecock recruiter Justin Stepp visited Dorman High School Wednesday. The Gamecocks are in the mix for Cavalier 2023 OT Markee Anderson.
Former Oklahoma TE Austin Stogner (6-6 235) arrived in Columbia Wednesday night for an official visit according to Hale McGranahan of TheBigSpur. Stogner entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier in the week. He and Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer were together at Oklahoma in 2019 and 2020. Stogner, a native of Plano, TX, caught 47 for 654 yards and 8 touchdowns in his career with the Sooners.
After strong overtures from the Gamecocks, it appears Hilton Head LB Jaylen Sneed will stick with his commitment to Notre Dame. USC defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clayton White visited Sneed Wednesday, as did Notre Dame defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman who is expected to be named the new head coach of the Irish as soon as Thursday. Sneed told the Notre Dame Rivals site that if Freeman became the head coach, he would honor his commitment, otherwise he would open things back up.
Dutch Fork WR Antonio Williams told Cam Gaskins of WOLO-TV in Columbia following Tuesday’s practice he plans to announce his college commitment “soon after” Saturday night’s state championship game against Gaffney. Williams is having in home visits this week with Clemson and Auburn according to his mother. South Carolina, Ole Miss and Georgia are the others he’s been considering.
Gamecocks offered 2023 ATH Jaremiah Anglin Jr. (6-2 180) of Lake Wales, FL.
Gamecocks offered 2024 DB Omillio Agard of Philadelphia.
