Coach Shane Beamer Wednesday afternoon struck again with his commitment alert tweet. “You ready for the 2nd one this week #GamecockNation
” is how Beamer put it in his tweet. Beamer also put out a commitment alert tweet on Monday. Neither of the prospects he is referring to have gone public with a commitment announcement. Though, considering the Gamecocks just had an official visitor leave campus, the second one might be claimed soon.
Arkansas State transfer WR Corey Rucker wrapped up his official visit to South Carolina Wednesday. Rucker will take another official visit to Utah State later this week. The Mississippi native has taken unofficial visits to Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas State. Based on his social media posts, Rucker enjoyed his time with the Gamecocks, but they will have to overcome some connections he has with some of the other schools. Ole Miss is the in-state program with a highly acclaimed passing attack and a new, hot-shot quarterback. Texas State is the new home of his quarterback the last two seasons, Layne Hatcher. According to a source, Rucker is very close to Hatcher and his family. And his former head coach at Arkansas State, Blake Anderson, is the head coach at Utah State. Rucker earned Freshman All-American honors last season after catching 59 passes for 826 yards and 9 touchdowns.
South Carolina offered DT Connor Knight (6-3 275) of Trussville, AL.
DT Xzavier McLeod of Camden plans to visit LSU. He was at South Carolina last weekend.
