GAMECOCKFANATICS PLAYERS OF THE GAME: South Carolina vs Clemson

Final: Clemson Tigers (12-0) 38 - South Carolina Gamecocks (4-8) 3

South Carolina concludes its 2019 season with a 38-3 loss in Williams-Brice Stadium to its in-state rival Clemson, to fall to 4-8. The Gamecocks struggled to mount any consistent offense, and will now look to an off-season full of personnel changes and finding answers to questions.

The players of the game for this week, beginning with the Gamecocks’ picks:

OFFENSE

PK Parker White: Parker is the unexpected beneficiary for the offensive Player of the Week for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, due to the Gamecock offense’s inability to generate anything. White provided the sole points of the game for the Gamecocks, with a 49-yard successful kick in the 2nd Quarter, his only attempt for the game.

Honorable Mention: RB Tavien Feaster: Feaster rushed 12 times for 47 net yards, and caught 4 passes for 8 yards.

DEFENSE

S Jammie Robinson: Robinson led the Gamecock defense with 11 total tackles - 9 of them solo tackles – and tied for the lead with 1.5 tackles for loss.

Honorable mention: DE J.J. Enagbare: Enagbare had 6 total tackles, as well as 1.5 tackles for loss, and the only QB sack of the game for the Gamecocks.

For Clemson

OFFENSE

QB Trevor Lawrence: Lawrence completed 26 of 36 passes for 295 yards and 3 touchdowns, and also rushed 8 times for 66 net yards, which led his team in rushing.

Honorable Mention: WR Tee Higgins: Higgins caught 3 passes for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.

DEFENSE

LB Isaiah Simmons: Simmons led the Tiger defense with 10 total tackles – 7 solo – with 2 tackles for loss, a QB sack, and a pass break-up.

Honorable Mention: CB Derion Kendrick: Kendrick made a momentum-turning interception for the Tigers, after the Gamecocks had made a successful goal-line stand at their one-yard line to stop a Clemson score  at the beginning of the game. Kendrick’s pick was on South Carolina’s next offensive possession, and gave the ball back to Clemson deep in USC territory, where they would capitalize in scoring a touchdown, and killing any positive momentum the Gamecocks had just secured.

Good picks CW. Hope next season we can win more than loss.

Not buying the Jammie pick, congrats to him for leading the team in tackles but i feel like that was a byproduct of clempson getting past our d-line all day long. his misses cost us a 14-0 lead to start the game.
