Gamecocks’ weekend visitor update

December 16, 2017

The South Carolina recruiting efforts for the 2018 class and beyond resumes this weekend. At least three highly-rated defenders are the headliners.

Three-star linebacker Rosendo Louis (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) is on campus as an official visitor. The Florida State commitment has been on campus at South Carolina several times, but not since he jumped on board with the Seminoles in August.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker is pictured above with defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson (left) and linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler (right).

According to the 247Sports composite, he is the No. 23 inside linebacker in the Class of 2018.

Joining him on campus this weekend is 3-star safety Israel Mukuamu, a former Florida State commitment who committed to South Carolina last Saturday. Mukuamu (Bossier City, La.) is ranked as the No. 44 safety in the country.

Visiting unofficially is 4-star defensive end Curtis Fann Jr., who recently announced that South Carolina was in his top 4, alongside Auburn, Clemson and Florida.

Fann (Twin City, Ga.) is ranked as the No. 16 weakside defensive end in the Class of 2019.

As of late Saturday morning, 3-star guard Jovaughn Gwyn (Charlotte, N.C.) had not yet started his official visit. Gwyn, who attends Harding University High School, has been dealing with strep throat all week, so his visit status before the weekend was questionable.

UPDATE 1:08 p.m.

Gwyn is expected to arrive to South Carolina for an official visit on Saturday.
