Gamecocks ‘most likely’ will be finalist for WR Josh Vann

May 15, 2017

Four-star WR update

Four-star wide receiver Josh Vann (Tucker, Ga.) has close to 15 offers from across the SEC and Big Ten, but he’s visited only two schools: South Carolina and Georgia.

During a recent interview with SEC Country, Vann said the Gamecocks and Dawgs will “most likely” be his finalists when he makes a decision about his college future. However, he wants to see more schools before reaching that conclusion.

LSU, Florida and Tennessee have invited him to attend camp. A trip north to see Michigan and Michigan State also could be in the cards this summer.

“All this [attention] is new, so I’m just trying to get used to it, like everybody else,” Vann said.

He added, “I’m just getting through it. I’m not trying to get a big head, like talk about it too much, so I just wait and wait, talk to my family and then make a final decision.”

That answer could come as early as this summer, but Vann, who’s ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 42 wide receiver in the Class of 2018, might take it all the way to signing day.

Vann is experiencing the recruiting process with several of his teammates from Tucker High School, including 4-star 2018 offensive lineman Dylan Wonnum.

“It’s good. You can ask them, so since it’s new for me, I can always ask them, what should I do,” Vann said. “And they’ll tell me [what] they’ve been going through, so it’s kind of good knowing that you have other people, so everybody won’t just be focused on you and have all the attention on you.”

The 5-foot-10.5, 175-pound wide receiver caught 63 passes for 1,286 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2016.
