Gamecocks add a huge and talented OL to the 2024 class with a commitment from Pringle
Jan. 22, 2023
What could be a huge week in recruiting for Shane Beamer and his 2024 USC football recruiting class started off big on Sunday afternoon with a commitment from 4-star OT Kam Pringle (6-7 315) of Woodland. Pringle is regarded as one of the top tackle prospects in the nation for the ’24 class and one of the state’s top prospects as well.
Pringle made several visits to the Gamecocks over the recruiting process and his decision ultimately came down to the Gamecocks and Georgia. He also had Clemson, NC State, Tennessee, and Florida on his shortlist.
Pringle said in late November he felt the Gamecocks offered an opportunity to step in early and be a factor on their offensive line.
“Where I can come in and play. They feel I have the skillset to change the program,” Pringle said. “Me and other top recruits come in and change things around. They are having a really good ’23 recruiting class, so they are looking for the same thing in ’24.”
Pringle also said during the recruiting process the proximity to the Gamecock campus from his home was important to him as well.
“With them being so close, that’s a top thing,” Pringle said. “They are maybe forty minutes from St. George, so staying close to home and close to family, that’s always a plus. And definitely the relationship. They probably recruit me harder than any other school in the country, and just being consistent, always making sure the family is good and being quality recruiters, checking on me and my family and seeing how everybody has been, and always welcoming me on the campus.”
Pringle is the second Gamecock commitment for 2024 joining quarterback Dante Reno. Tuesday the Gamecocks hope to land TE Michael Smith of Savannah when he makes his announcement, and Friday they will be hoping for good news from LB Wendell Gregory of Marietta, GA as he reveals his decision.
