Guard Theo Pinson (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian) is considered to be one of top prospects in the country for the 2014 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-5 guard visited South Carolina during the fall for the Georgia football game but had not spoken about the trip or the Gamecocks since.
"They really care about their sports down there and it is a huge campus," Pinson said of his October visit to Columbia. "If you like big environments, that is a place you want to go."
During the trip, the Gamecocks staff sat down with Pinson and explained why they want him in Columbia.
"Just basically how they wanted me to be there and change the program," Pinson said. "They want me to be an impact player as a freshman."
Pinson has taken notice of the Gamecocks mainly due to the presence of their first year head coach.
"He is all about winning," Pinson said. "He gets on his players but he wants to win so bad and his players want to win so they accept it and they know he has their best interest."
