South Carolina is trying to get in the mix for Top 75 4 star offensive lineman E.J. Price 6'6" 311lbs (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer). A teammate of Gamecocks commitment Kyle Davis, Price has yet to visit Columbia but says he’s going to soon.
Price, who named Michigan as his outright leader on Sunday at The Opening Combine in Atlanta, is originally from Michigan. He’s visited Georgia and Auburn recently and those two schools were near the top for his services.
After Michigan, there are a big cluster of schools. Price says that “everyone is still in it,” which happens to include the Gamecocks.
“I’m definitely interested in South Carolina,” Price said. “We have Kyle Davis committed there and he’s real “Hashtag-We Cocky” so he’s definitely been on me about getting out to South Carolina. All he talks about is Columbia.”
Probably the biggest factor keeping the Gamecocks in it for Price, apart from Davis, is his relationship with recruiter G.A. Mangus, who has been a fixture at Archer High School over the last year.
There are a half dozen players on the Archer team that have South Carolina offers, including Davis and 2015 tight end signee Connor Redmond.
“Coach Mangus is awesome,” Price said. “He comes by our school a lot. When he comes by, he makes sure to show me and Kyle a lot of love. He’s a real cool guy and real down to earth. I look forward to getting to be around him on campus.”
Price doesn’t have a visit set up yet with South Carolina.
“I will probably head up there next time Kyle goes up there,” Price said. “He’s been wanting me to get up there for a while. I want to get up there the next time he goes.”
