Gamecocks are favored by 13 over GA St

I expect that line will move a bit in our favor before kickoff. Get your bets in now.

People may have forgotten that back in 2015 Shawn Elliott roped in a demoralized Gamecock team to get a 19-10 win over Vandy after Spurrier resigned following the Gamecocks loss to LSU the week before.

You can make the argument that GSU is indeed an undertalented team just like we were in 2015, but Elliott found a way to keep the scores close despite the losses the rest of the season.

Including the upset of the Vols in 2019, Elliott has two SEC wins as a head coach (only one less than Shane) and that with undertalented teams. Shawn kept us close with a #1 Clemson team in 2015, while a struggling #23 Clemson team shut us out 30-0 last year. He did much better against upper-tier SC teams as our interim HC than Shane did last year.

Some folks here were jizzin' in their shorts about the prospect of Jamie Chadwell becoming the HC here, but last year GSU achieved another milestone with the program’s first win over a nationally-ranked opponent when the Panthers knocked off #21 Coastal Carolina 42-20 on the road. Most would admit that was a great Coastal team. They were certainly better than us last year.

Shawn has that old school fire in him that has been sorely missing here for too many years. If our players and coaches focus on the multimedia hype instead of getting up for this game, GSU will upset us.

Stoops is right about Shane until Shane proves himself as a head coach. So Stoops may have lit a fire under Shane that lasts the whole season and keeps us from being upset.

We need less talk and a lot more action out of this program. Flip a coin. I don't know.

The rub on unproven HCs who are great recruiters that don't win is they bring in great recruits for a veteran HC who knows how to motivate their recruits to get them to play to a higher level.

Shane is the touchy-feely recruiter, but Shawn is the proven head coach who gets players to play at a higher level.

I am excited about our team this year, but this is a trap game if Shane reads his own multimedia and doesn't focus on coaching the team to be ready for this game.

This is going to be a great game regardless of the outcome. The moon is cheese. Flip a coin.

Is the game with Ga.State going to be televised? I remember last year our first game was only on ESPN+.

It says ESPN+ and SEC Network on the ESPN schedule.

Usually you can stream the games by logging into Watch ESPN with your cable provider's credentials.

If they’re running the ball (which they can) and we cannot get them off the field, the clock runs faster. Even faster if our O isn’t clicking and we’re off the field quick. I suspect by the 4th any talent and depth gap will be evident and we pull ahead. The spread seems about right to me. This isn’t a sure thing nor a pushover. Hopefully we can ge some turnovers and big plays early.

Hopefully it is the SEC Network, and not SEC+, but the SC Athletic site says it's only on the "+" networks.

If you view TV through Youtube Tv, you will have to subscribe to ESPN+ in order to view the game. Even though ESPN is included in your content, you can't stream ESPN+ with Youtube Tv credentials. The good news is you can sign up on a month to month basis -- which is what I did last year for some of the women's basketball games.

FWIW, I have the bundle package with Hulu Live, Dinsey+, and ESPN. That covers all of the + networks. The whole thing together runs about $75 per month once taxes and whatnot are added in, and I don't think there's been a single game in the past few years that I could not watch. Any of you who are looking for a way to watch, that would be my suggestion, especially if you're already paying for one of them separately.

Just to completely derail the topic, I agree that if you are looking for a primary streaming service that sounds like a good deal. I went with Youtube TV a couple of years ago, primarily because of their unlimited cloud DVR storage. You can keep unlimited storage for up to 9 months. At the time, you were able to stream ESPN+ content with the Youtube Tv credentials, but that changed within the past 2 years because of contract disputes, so now I just ala carte ESPN+ as needed.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Streaming....it will get crazy if we are a lot better as anticipated this year or a moot point if we start off 0-3.

I am holding off on any bandwidth upgrades/streaming until I see how this season goes. I also think Lamont's guys will do okay in December but may run into a buzz saw in SEC play.

I may try to get to a few football games this season, but I haven't been to a game at W-B in a long time. I am sure the parking has changed some.

Heard Shaun Elliott interviewed today and he said all of the right things but man I got the impression that he wants this game real bad.

I guess I'll just go back to the old days and listen on the radio. We subscribe to several streaming services and have cable, but I cannot see subscribing to yet another platform even for one month just to watch one game.

I don't blame you one bit, man. I cut the cable a long time ago, because my current setup completely replaces it.
However if you have a cable subscription, you may not need to pay anything extra. Just log into WatchESPN with your cable account, and you might be gtg.

I completely understand what you're saying but I look at it like this. 15-20 years ago I used to pay 20-25 bucks to see us play (before the games were on everywhere) via Pay Per View. If I have to shell out $6.99 for a month of ESPN+ I see it as a bargain.

Yep, my thoughts for next weeks game as well. I'll set myself a reminder on the calendar to cancel before it renews for a second month. And I'm sure I'll do something similar for some of the basketball games.

That was more or less my line of thinking when cutting the cable. I was giving DirecTV $130 per month, and that didn't even include all of the games. Now I spend half that much, and I don't miss any of the games.

That said, I would still check on the ESPN app or website. The game is supposed to be on SEC+, and most packages that have the SECN already, have access to SEC+. Just be sure to click that link instead of the ESPN+ one.

You can test it ahead of time too. Today starting at 11:30AM, SEC+ will have a whole bunch of press conferences streaming. https://www.espn.com/watch/schedule/_/type/upcoming/channel/19644d95-cc83-38ed-bdf9-50b9f2e9ebfc

Tomorrow will be ours and Vandy's starting at 1:30PM. There are also other events going on throughout the week. If you can stream any of those, you're probably all set.

He wants all of 'em about the same. It's hard for me to see how most players wouldn't want to play for a guy like that.

I think GAST will come out fired up and keep it close in the first quarter but the talent and size gap will win out. Looking at their starting roster they are going to be smaller on both lines.

Shane will have them ready, new lights, lots of hype, I expect him to try and score and score often.
