Gamecocks are firmly in mix for top O-lineman

Here’s what Sentell shared with SpursUp Surveillance, regarding 4-star offensive guard Keiondre Jones, the No. 63 overall prospect in the Class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite.
Swag watch
On the first day of the Rising Seniors game last week in Georgia, Jones (6-foot-4, 324 pounds) was spotted representing Callaway High School (Hogansville, Ga.).
On the second day, Jones was sporting a South Carolina quarter-zip top with a pair of Georgia shorts. We here at SpursUp Surveillance agree wholeheartedly with Sentell’s Intel: Do not read into recruits’ clothing choices.
Upcoming plans
Jones, who’s ranked as the No. 3 offensive guard in the country, hasn’t released a lead group of any sort, though he plans to do so within the coming weeks.
“I hope to be committed and shut down by my senior year,” Jones said. “Shut down and committed so I can focus on my team. I will likely do it sometime this summer.”
Who’s in the mix?
A lot of SEC schools, that’s who.
“I would say Bama and then South Carolina. Those two have been on me pretty hard,” Jones said. “Florida is in it, especially now. Florida State. I like them. I want to talk to their new staff. Clemson is in it still. Duke was in it, but coach [Marcus] Johnson has left for Mississippi State, so they are probably not there for me anymore.”
Why South Carolina?
Offensive line coach Eric Wolford, that’s why.
“I like South Carolina a lot. I like coach Wolf and [outside linebackers/defensive ends] coach [Mike] Peterson there. Then, you have to really like coach [Will] Muschamp,” Jones said. “I really like their whole program. That program is on the rise and the real come up.”
How about Bama?
Because they’re Bama, duh.
“Of course, they are going to get you to the NFL,” Jones said. “Bama will get you to where you need to go. Coach [brent] Key is big for me there. Coach Key can help you. Coach [Nick] Saban is, of course, there and I like coach [Derrick] Ansley a lot, too.”
