Gamecocks battling for DE Kameryn Fountain

The Gamecocks are in the middle of the battle for DE Kameryn Fountain (6-6 237) of Atlanta. Fountain said Monday night the Gamecocks rank among his top three, though he did not disclose his full top three. According to Fountain, Gamecock recruiter Sterling Lucas was in last week and is considering an official visit to the Gamecocks either this summer or during the football season. Fountain visited the Gamecocks for a spring practice in early April and said he was impressed by how the defense operates. Fountain has official visits set with Southern Cal on June 2nd and Tennessee on June 23rd. He said he would also take an official visit to Georgia. Florida State also is a factor, and he just picked up an offer from Texas. Last season Fountain had 56 tackles with 12 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.
