Will Muschamp isn’t known as much of a gambler. But against No. 2 Alabama at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, the Gamecocks went all in for the upset. It just wasn’t enough in a 47-23 USC loss that was widely expected but competitive early before the Crimson Tide imposed their will. Going up against ‘Bama coach Nick Saban, his former boss, Muschamp made aggressive play calls, clearly hoping to gain whatever advantage he could in a game where South Carolina (1-2) was the 26-point underdog. It's not that we lost to #2 Alabama.

It's the fact that that's the way we lose to everyone we should beat the last few years.

Should’ve kicked a field goal at the end of half.   Should’ve brought more blitzes too.   Our best defense of stand was when we brought the heat and then we stopped for some reason.   If you want to gamble like that, gamble on both sides of the ball.

Meh. 3 more points would hay been meaningless. Going for the TD was the right call. We knew to have a chance we needed TD’s not FGs.

Overall I was impressed by the efforts of the offense. I saw some things that give me hope for more wins in the future. The D had some bright spots, but tackling still needs to improve. I thought Horn had an excellent game against some of the best receivers in the country.

A lot to like offensively but... You must cash in each and ever opportunity to score. We did not do that and it cost us a couple of times. Hilinski was very accurate most of the time (though he threw high a number of times), but our receivers need to hang on to the balls that they get their hands on! Defensively we can't give up 500+ yards and expect to win.
