Gamecocks developing strong connection to another Havelock standout

A few years ago USC landed a talented athlete from Havelock, NC in Pharoh Cooper who is now a receiver with the Arizona Cardinals. Cooper came to USC capable of playing several positions but settled in at receiver and became of the most dangerous players in the country. The Gamecocks are now eyeing a similar talent in Havelock in 2020 CB/RB Kamarro Edmonds (5-11 190). He’s made multiple visits to USC including a camp stop this month, and he feels very comfortable with the program.
“I’ve got a great bond with the coaches, T-Rob, Coach Krantz, Coach Muschamp,” Edmond said. “They are like father figures and pretty much make feel like I’m at home and family. They talk to me about the grades and how to get people out of college and get their degrees. They treat their players like they’re pretty much their sons. They have great coaches there, and the facilities are amazing and beautiful. The campus is beautiful.”
Along with USC, Edmonds said North Carolina also is strong on hime, and he’s also looking hard at North Carolina State and East Carolina. He also has offers from Virginia Tech and Tennessee. There is no favorite.
Edmonds said he plans to return to USC after the dead period, possibly for the annual social gathering in late July, or perhaps for a practice in August. He wants to commit after his junior season.
As for the legend of Pharoh in Havelock, Edmonds said the two actually are friends and he worked out with him Thursday. And he has talked with Cooper about his experiences at USC.
“I just ask him how the school is and what he thinks about the school,” he said. “He said it was a great school and they pretty much treat their players like family. And they have a great facility and a great working program.”
According to MaxPreps, last season Edmonds rushed for 500 yards and 5 touchdowns averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. He also had 33 tackles with 1 interceptions and 6 pass deflections.
