Gamecocks do not make the cut for PJ Hall

July 20, 2019

The state’s top basketball prospect in the 2020 class, 6-9 PJ Hall of Dorman, Friday night released his final five schools. Hall named Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech as the schools he will take official visits to in the weeks ahead, and he will choose one prior to his season. USC also was in strong pursuit but did not make the cut.

“We were talking about really seeing the Gamecocks, but I just thought in my head I wouldn’t be happy and I didn’t want to waste their time,” Hall said Friday night from Los Angeles where his AAU team is playing the adidas Gauntlet Finale. “I’m just moving on to the other options.”

USC coach Frank Martin had to cancel a scheduled in home visit in May and did not reschedule though he did meet with Hall and his teammate PG Myles Tate at school. Hall took an unofficial visit to USC in late June. He also visited for the final regular season home game against Georgia.

The kids explanation seems a little week to me. We have great facilities, probably better than any of his Top 5s. My translation on this is he doesn't want to play. lol

If the Pro Am is any indicator, we are going to be winning a LOT in the near future.

Personally, I think he didn't like the fact that his playing time would be limited, and that he would have to work a lot harder on defense than he would like.

But that's just me.

He committed to that upstate team.

Not surprising (see previous post).

Somewhat disappointing though.

Weird that he would go there.. WTH do they have to offer in basketball?
His choice was pretty simple (according to PJ): “(Brownell) told me 'hometown hero' a few years ago, and I never forgot that. Hometown hero sounds great to me. Being here, knowing my parents can get to every home game, my brother can get to every home game, just knowing that I have two real families now, one at Clemson and one at my house... It just felt like I was supposed to be there.”

From the time I went to high school there, so many of my classmates from Dorman went to Clemson.  It's been a pipeline for years.

I sort of felt rogue when me and my buddy from the band took off to Columbia, LOL.

It just felt like family ??? Puleeeeeze. I get sick of hearing every damn athlete who goes to klempzun say that phrase.  Just go ahead and say, well Im a redneck and my Maw and Paw aint gotz no pickem up twuck that make it over 80 miles.  So I can go up dare and not worried about Maw and Paw makin it to my games. Best of all I don't have to worry about busing my sheep up here. They have plenty of fine sheep on the campus of klempzun college.
