Gamecocks fall 3-2 to vanderbilt in SEC Tournament opener

Hoover, Ala. – Second seeded South Carolina broke ahead 2-0 in the second inning on a two-run single by Tanner English but fifth seeded Vanderbilt rallied with single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings with the winning run coming across home plate on a squeeze with two strikes by Mike Yastrzemski as the Commodores defeated the Gamecocks 3-2 on Wednesday evening at the SEC Baseball Tournament. South Carolina is now 39-16 with Vanderbilt 31-25 on the year. The Gamecocks are back in action on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. ET in an elimination game vs. Auburn. The game can be heard live on the Gamecock Radio Network from IMG College including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.” It will be televised live on CSS and Time Warner Cable channel 506 and 519 in South Carolina.
