Gamecocks Fall at Home to Texas A&M

I just can't understand how the team can have an excellent game where I think they have finally reached a point of excellence and in the very next game look like they haven't got a clue on how the game is played.

I agree, it was very frustrating. TAM looked like the NBA champs out there yesterday. smh

Same...and it was going on in pre-conference play, too. Beat Clemson, look like crap in the Charleston tournament.

Lamont said in the PG interview on the radio that the locker room was angry and he didn't feel the need to show anger on top of that.

True FR Zachary Davis was the high scorer with 13 pts. He is an in-state guy that Lamont brought in, so there's hope for the future. Also a 4-year honor roll guy at Denmark-Olar, where his dad coached him. Ten of those 13 points were in the second half, but still a good sign.

Josh Gray and BBV only had 1 rebound each. FR DHS had 3.

Our veteran bigs need to play better, among other things.

We just don't handle physical, intimidating teams very well at this point.

The UK upset gives me hope that we can hold our own with middle-tier and below teams, though.

Before the UK win at Rupp, I was expecting us to go 0-fer in the SEC this year.

Win one/lose one is the inconsistent nature of a .500 team.

You could also say that we're seeing a first-year HC with mid-major experience getting schooled on the level of competition in the SEC.

If your goal is not to get to the post-season, then you're going to get trucked by most of the other SEC programs.

I think Lamont's time as an assistant with a very successful Wisconsin program will offset some of the adversity we're seeing now.

So the lows will be very low, but the highs will be very high, like the UK and Clemson wins.

I think we have some great players on the team, but the wins just aren't coming like they should.

Gotta find a way to stop the blow-out losses and bounce back.

I’ve got your answer for you…

Read my comments in this:

And this:

GG, Meechie, Brown. You don’t have all three at your disposal, it’s trouble. You don’t have all three playing with one mindset, it’s bad. You have one guy of the three not giving 100% effort… gonna get ugly fast.

That’s what we had both games v. UT and TAMU - some combination of the above. Got ugly fast.

The Gamecock family just has to accept we don’t have ANY bench depth this year. We play as those three play. Plain and simple. And as I noted early in the season, the ‘Cocks will get a surprise win or two (UK at home, anyone), but a .500 season at best is the likely end to Coach Paris’ first season at the helm.

I hope GG comes back next season as a building block, but that’s not very likely given the NBA scouts who are showing up to see him.

My perception is NBA scouts are GG's kryptonite right now; dude's just 17.
