Gamecocks gearing up for official visit weekend
December 04, 2017
Even though most of the upcoming official visitors are already committed, it’s set to be another big-time South Carolina recruiting weekend.
Four-star cornerback Jaycee Horn (Alpharetta, Ga.) will on campus with nearly 10 commitments, including 4-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner, 4-star cornerback Jonathan Gipson, who profiles as a safety. A handful of 3-star pledge will be there, too: Center Hank Manos, offensive tackle Maxwell Iyama, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, safety R.J. Roderick and wide receiver Darius Rush.
Joyner, Manos, Iyama, Jones, Roderick and Rush are scheduled to enroll at South Carolina in January. Horn, a former Tennessee commitment, is not believed to be a midyear enrollee.
Three-star running back commitments Deshaun Fenwick and Lavonte Valentine, both of whom have already taken official visits to South Carolina, are also expected to be among next month’s early enrollees. Three-star defensive ends Kingsley Enagbare and Tyreek Johnson, a holdover from the 2017 class, will also enroll in January.
At least two of South Carolina’s remaining 3-star targets could join them: Israel Mukuamu and Jarrett Jackson, a defensive end from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., who’s committed to Louisville. Mukuamu (Bossier City, La.) is classified by the 247Sports composite as a safety, but he’s on the Gamecocks board as a cornerback.
Neither prospect is expected on campus this weekend. Both took their official visits to South Carolina during the season.
