Gamecocks get there new strength coach Paul Jackson from Ole Miss.

Dec. 17, 2019

South Carolina announced Paul Jackson, formerly of Ole Miss, as the new strength & condition coach Tuesday. He was approved by the Executive and Governance Committee and the full board is set to approve him in the afternoon. He is set to earn $450,000 a year for two years. It would tie him for fifth-highest salary for SEC strength coaches. He will have a $100,000 buyout in Year 1, $50,000 in Year 2. Jackson will replace Jeff Dillman, who was one of Muschamp’s early hires after arriving in Columbia and had worked with him during his time at Florida. Dillman and the Gamecocks program parted ways the day after the 2019 season ended. (VIEW ARTICLE)

I'm optimistic about this hire as well. Looks like a good hire. Dude looks like he's in good shape and the athletes he's around look like they are in good shape too.

I am excited to see what he can do and glad that he will be in place for the return of winter break to start working with the guys. From the little bit of reading I have done on him, he seems to be well respected in the S&C world and has even published some articles in S&C journals, he seems like an old school hard nosed type of coach, but he is also very open to the use of technology and improving his methods. I know he will have the finests facilities (I would guess they are an upgrade from ol miss) so lets see what he can do.

If the injury issue was over work, I hope he can show that to HCWM and they can adjust accordingly.

This is in fact a 'home run' hire. On every level Coach Jack is considered one of the best in the business. He is highly educated and made an immediate difference every where he has been. Intense, hard as nails and done nothing but move up the ladder professionally and the kids love him. Anyone arguing against simply doesn't know what they are talking about.

His teams are injury prone. Not so sure this is a "home run hire" Looks like more of the same. Most Ole Piss fans I have conversed with have wanted to see him gone and rumor was he was going to be let go if Luke was retained as their HC.

Absolutely untrue and I can show you actual video of Luke and the rest of the staff saying he is the single best they have ever been around, the best in the country and that this is based on being around a ton of good ones and knowing what they are talking about.

If you want me to explain this and share all the actual data with these Ole Miss fans who apparently don't know much about it either just let me know...I've noticed fans sometime know little about what they are talking about.

Below you will see all of that and even a section on injury prevention and the cutting edge technology and program they are a part of in addressing exactly that:

fine video. Ole miss riddled with injuries as bad or worse than Carolina this year. Theory and practice are two different things. I mean its not like Carolina is using these same technologies to" prevent injuries".  Oh wait...

Here his last head coach and other staff members explain how truly special he is and how good he is at his job:

If our team had to play on the Ole Miss field every weekend we would have been 85 scholly wheelchairs by the end of the season. Both teams when we played in Oxeford should have protested the condditions of their trash fascility.

Some people just have to complain about something. Everything I have read indicates he is one of the leaders in his field, as always the proof is in the pudding, so until then, I think this was a great choice for S&C.

Of those injuries how many were mechanical and how many were soft tissue? It doesn't matter how good your S&C program is if you play on a crap field (it was awful when we played there). If they had a large number of soft tissue injuries then it might be S&C related.

-MS in Kinesiology

- Mentored under the legendary Tommy Moffitt at LSU...who also mentored super coach Scott Cochran from Alabama

- As an assistant at LSU he won a SEC and National Championship in football...and three straight SEC West titles and a SEC Championship as head of LSU Volleyball in 3 years.

-In his lone year at Miami (OH) the Redhawks became the first team to go from double digit losses to double digit wins ever...1-11 to 10-4...the single greatest turn around in the history of college football at the time...while winning both the MAC Championship and their Bowl Game

-In his one year at Southern Miss the Golden Eagles had their best year ever...12-2...and won the Conference USA Championship

-He then goes to Ole Miss with Freeze and as a part of the initial rebuild there helps change what the athlete even looks like at Ole Miss. They begin with 4 straight bowl games and by the 2015 season the Rebels have become a top ten...ranked as high as #3...team with wins over ranked Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Miss. St and a route of OK State in the Sugar bowl. This  is when the trouble at Ole Miss starts...mostly because of the actions of the prior administration...then there was the whole Laremy Tunsil deal, etc....Freeze is gone...people are fired...they have all sorts of wins vacated...there are massive scholarship reductions over the next four years, etc, and because of all that the entire program had to rebuild and struggle...none of it has to do with Coach Jackson or the incredible job he did there. It was the sanctions and trouble caused above him and before him why Ole Miss dropped off. Not what he was doing.

The dude is beyond highly regarded with-in his profession....he effects things instantly...his kids love, respect and fear him...his teams compete and win...and if you ever want to see how well his program works on an athlete just take a look at my Seattle Seahawks WR D.K Metcalf with his shirt off...remember when people thought Alshon was fat? You won't ever have to worry about that ever again.

Dk Metcalf has a bodybuilding father and was a gym rat. That's all him.  I'm sure the guy is a great S&C coach, but DK did that himself.

That is most likely true...even though his time with Coach Jack certainly didn't hurt...but if you had anything to do with DK Metcalf you have to take what ever little credit you may have had to do with it. I have never seen anything like it at the WR spot...or any other position to be honest. That dude is a genetic freak of nature.
