Two South Carolina players picked up some postseason hardware on Thursday. Quarterback Dakereon Joyner and tight end Jaheim Bell earned spots on the Associated Press’ All-Bowl team after their performances in the Gamecocks 38-21 win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Joyner received MVP honors from the game as he led the Gamecocks offense to its most prolific performance of the season. He finished the day a perfect 9 of 9 passing for 160 yards and a touchdown and added another 64 yards on 10 rushes. Joyner was honored in the all-purpose slot on the AP’s award list.

Bell, too, turned in a prolific performance in South Carolina’s win over its border rival. The do-it-all tight end recorded touchdown catches of 69 and 66 yards from Joyner and quarterback Zeb Noland both in the first eight minutes of the game. Bell finished the contest with five catches for 159 yards

All-Purpose

Dakereon Joyner, South Carolina (Duke’s Mayo): The quarterback-turned-receiver got some work at his original position and completed all nine of his pass attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown. Joyner also had 10 carries for 64 yards.

Tight end

Jaheim Bell, South Carolina (Duke’s Mayo): Bell had five catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns to help South Carolina beat North Carolina 38-21. This was a big bowl season for tight ends. Purdue’s Payne Durham, Coastal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely, Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer and Georgia State’s Aubry Payne also scored two touchdowns each.
